Experimental Condensed Matter Research Scientist

The Department of Physics at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Scientist with hands on experience in Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) instrumentation and expertise in the characterization of materials using synchrotron based spectroscopic techniques. The position requires a Ph.D. in materials science, physics, or related field, and at least three years of experience as a postdoctoral researcher. The main duty of the successful candidate will be to take leading role in the building of a state of the art Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES) experimental setup at the Physics department. In addition, this individual will work closely with undergraduate and graduate students to train them in handling UHV equipment and participate in ARPES experiments at synchrotrons.

To apply, please submit a candidate profile on-line through Jobs@ UVA (https://jobs.virginia.edu) and electronically attach the following: a cover letter, curriculum vitae and the contact information for three professional references; search on posting number 0611526.

Review of applications will begin on March 14, 2013; however, the position will remain open until filled.
